Bob Boyce has grown up with China for over 21 years. His restaurants are the first (and maybe only) American-style dining many Chinese have experienced thanks to their massive China-wide expansion into Tier 2 and 3 cities. Opening in Macau, the Sin City of the East, was a massive blow to Bob’s business and SARS almost sunk him. But Bob expanded from 25 to 1500+ employees all over China and created a culture that grows and retains by first figuring out that HE WAS THE PROBLEM.

Gordon Orr, Director of Mckinsey (Asia), says, “China needs quality jobs…key to talent…hire from Universities then train.” but Bob has lived this for years and devotes his company and his personal success to education and training. He won the business by managing and staying on the ground with his people and even though he knows that he will never be an insider, he trusts and relies on his local staff similarly to Dominic Johnson Hill from Episode 1.
